Hi Paul says that chocolate cake as a shelf life of 5days…. The one I’ve made will hopefully last 7 days for got to put glycerine in!!!!!!! Any one tried cake after five days old. Thank you.x

Paul’s cake will last longer than five days so you’re good for seven, just keep it in a cool place, not in the fridge if it is covered in fondant. Don’t worry about the glycerine, I never put it into this recipe.

I made the handbag cake using Paul’s chocolate cake. It was my first attempt at decorating and thought the icing would ttake a lot longer than it did. My friend then kept it for a further week before cutting into it and said it was still really moist. 12 days might be pushing it a bit but it worked for her. I didn’t use the glycerine either.

Thank you for your help I feel better now I wouldn’t want the cake to be dry.x
