Chocolate wrap in our summer heatwave
Hi, I was just wondering if anyone has had a problem with the chocolate wrap melting because of the heat wave we are having at the moment! I have been using the modelling chocolate just now (10.30pm) and its melting in my hands. I’m worried that it not going to set and look terrible by Saturday night.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi lynz1312
The weather is certainly challenging everyone at the moment! The only thing I can suggest is keep plunging your hands in some ice before handling the chocolate and if you have a fan keep it running while decorating. I haven’t made the wrap cake but I do chocolate work so can appreciate the problems you’re having. I have a spare fridge which I use exclusively for chocolate. Another member is having problems with her fondant and suggested she may hire a small air conditioning unit. I don’t know whether that is an option for you or perhaps have the use of another fridge. Sometimes running the wrists in ice cold water helps cool hands down, might give you a few extra seconds to get one or two pieces up. Certainly try the fan, at least that will keep the air circulating. Feel for you x
Thought you might like to see what the other ladies are saying here http://www.cakeflix.com/questions/crumb-coating-a-5-tier-wedding-cake. Sounds like they’re in favour of the aircon machine. x
Thank you so much for your advice! I will try the fan and plunging hands into ice…fingers crossed!!
I live in australia where eveyone has airconditioners but as a home decorator I just refuse choc cakes in hot weather.you still have to deliver.which means leaving the air con in the car running for 10 mins.to cool the car.shops usually have low moisture large fridges and refrigerated vans.good luck with your cake.
