Cakeboard with Edible Image
I wanted to place an edible image (icing) onto a fondant covered cake board but will a cake sitting on top of image have any adverse effects on it. Is the cake likely to cause the image to disintegrate?
Thanks for any info.

Hi gina
If you sandwich the image between the board and cake, I would think the image will be damaged, probably go soggy and begin to disintegrate. I think the moisture would start to make the sugar melt, when the image is stuck to the top of a cake it’s constantly in contact with the air and remains dry. other members might know different. x
I think you’re right miwl and won’t chance it with the cake I’m doing at the moment but I might test it out on a sample when I get time. Maybe if the cake sitting on a bit of card cut to size might be an option but thanks for your reply xx
That might work but you’d still have the weight of the cake pressing down on the image which again would be damaging. I think your experimental idea is the way to go, would be good to know if it survives. x
