Gum T. Or Tylo Powder
Which is best or do they do the same job – making a glue and firming up sugar paste? I have just watched Paul making the keep fit cake and using sugar paste with the addition of Tylo powder seems excellent. I usually just mix flower and sugar paste together, but fancy doing this technique. My local shop only stocks Gum T.

Gum Trag, Tylose, CMC all do the same job as strengtheners, only difference is gum trag is a natural substance and the other two synthetic. Gum trag makes stronger models and flowers. Paste made with it usually needs to be rested for 12 – 24 hours before use. My preference is to use gum trag to strengthen sugarpaste when it’s too stretchy and unworkable and for making decorations.
