Just watching this tutorial but don’t understand the use of card in between layers – surely the cardboard side would get soggy. Also, when I cut dowels, I cut them all the same height, not each one at the height of the cake – surely that is the only way to get the next tier level.

Hi, I think it’s best to cut dowels all the same size too. The cake card doesn’t seem to go soggy at all, as you wouldn’t be putting your card onto a thick layer of filling, also, it’s possible to buy cake board with both sides silver, think it’s just called double sided cake card.
