Edible Glue

Some use just water to stick fondant pieces, some sugar and water mix, some tylose and water mix, some pioing gel and water mix..which is the best medium for modelling figures and for sticking fondant decorations to surface..does different each mix is specific to some medium like tylose for gumpaste.
Can it please be explained? Thanks

Hi Baker06

As long it it sticks it’s right, although too much water should be avoided If you’re sticking larger flat pieces or heavy flowers royal icing is the strongest. I also use melted chocolate or royal icing as glue for models. Use what works the best for you.

Actually I use sugar and water mix but am not much into modelling for flat pieces it works fine so asking is it the best or I should switch to Tylose and water mix?

If it works for you and you’re happy with the results, stick with it! If you need to use something stronger you have other options too.

I use a mix of CMC and water – 1 part CMC to 30 parts water. Mix and shake well, leave overnight and use the next day. Sticks absolutely everything perfectly!
