Paul’s Ferrari cake

Hi there, Has anyone made the Ferrari cake following Paul’s recipe using 2 x 10″ square cakes? I have a Ferrari cake order coming up and it needs to feed 50 people. Somehow I don’t think that will be sufficient after shaping. Can anyone advice what size cakes I need to bake? Thank you.

Hi adeline

I haven’t made this cake however other members have and hopefully they will advise you. If I was making this cake I would bake a sheet cake as an extra for cutting and just have the car as the centre piece. The amount of servings any cake gives depends on how big a piece of cake is served to guests, I think the car would just about give 50 servings. Here is David’s serving chart:

Thank you madeitwithlove. I think I might bake some extra cake as you suggested or even ice the uncut portions which looks quite substantial in the video. Due to the shape of the car, there’s quite a lot of wastage and although a normal 10″ square cake would normally give 50 portions, I’m not sure whether this Ferrari car cake would give 50 standard portions.

I think it’s better to have a little too much than not enough. Hope you get on alright. x
