Welcome to the Cake Decorators Q&A
Using non edible prints on a cake
Hi
I am making a rugby ball cake.
It is going to be themed with the team that my customer supports.
I was going to make this out of sugar paste but it is a complicated design.
My next thought was to print this from a normal printer but tell my customer to remove it from the cake before they cut into it.
Is it ok to do this ?
Thank you in advance for helping.

Hi Rachael
Normal ink prints can’t really be place on a cake in case some of the ink comes off. What you could do is have an edible image made from your print. Lots of local cake decorating shops make edible imaging, and there are plenty more online companies too. There’s information here:

Hope it helps.
