Queen of Hearts instruct to get a real good red buttercream to use three colors(at the time they were using sugar flair – a dark pink eg a claret, an orange eg a tangerine and a dark red-eg ruby and combine them in your buttercream and smudge them and fold until they are combined and you will have a nice dark red. If you want a darker red, you can add a hint of a brown or black. But no matter what the brand, it is dark pink, dark orange, and dark red combined- and then a hint of the brown or black if you want it still darker, but they remind you that the color will deepen with time left standing-so it may not need the extra hint of black or brown.
I have used this and it works! Morgana
Thanks for quick answer. I used the same method, first add orange and mix it, then followed by pink and then red. The outcome is dark pink buttercream. I left it in the fridge and tomorrow it should be red as mentioned above.
