I always wondered about how to cover a cake board with sugar paste.
So your information really helped. Thank YOU.

  4. AnnMccayna

How long in advance should the cake board be iced before putting the cake onto it

    • pauldoffman

It should be fine right away. There are lots of different ways to ice a board though and a lot of the time there is no icing under the cake. If you watch all these videos you should get a pretty good idea of the different techniques.

Hi Paul, thanks again for this class, does it mean you can only use panel icing to cover a board for square cake?

    • pauldoffman

      Hi,

I don’t see why you could not do this with a round board but maybe its not the best technique. Maybe the throw over would be better. You could always ask in our Q&A

    Hi!!!

REally nice tutorials!! I would like to what kind/brand of sugar paste you use. IT seems to be so flexible and nice to work with it. I make my own paste because the place were I live the only options are satin ice or wilton… and I dont like… any suggestion to have a soft and flexible paste?

    Thanks a lot

  8. clayberrycakes

why did the icing get slimmy after the cake sat on it for a day?

  14. marisa40

I have made the cake layers for my friends wedding cake (some chocolate, some madeira) and I have frozen them (double wrapped) to save me time as it was quite a lot of cakes to make at once. If the wedding is one week today (sat 20th), when would you suggest I defrost them. Any tips for how to do this (ie let them defrost in their wrapping or unwrap them??) advice greatly appreciated.

  15. Amisha

  16. Amisha

Do we get ready sugar paste of all colours in market, or can we use white colour n change the colour according to our preference…

I just joined today. Although I am not a professional baker, I look forward to learning the tricks of the trade so that My kids’ birthday cakes and eventually wedding cakes turn out beautifully. My mom baked and decorated cakes for several occasions as a hobby and I am carrying on that tradition with my own kids as I allow them to help me with baking and decorating cakes and cookies. Thank you for these free videos that will help to improve my skills.
