Hi,
I’m looking to do my first chalk board cake. Can anyone share any tips please? What is the best type of white paint to use? Is paint better than using the candy melt option I have also seen? Are these cakes always done freehand or are there any templates available? Thanks.

I haven’t done a chalk board cake yet but I did have to draw an elaborate pattern on a black fireplace. I used Sugarflair super white powder and made it into a liquid paint with a little vodka.
I believe Americolor also do a brilliant white. Google them both by name to see suppliers and best prices.
Templates for chalk board writing are also available, again google ‘ chalkboard writing templates’ .
