I have been asked to make a 8 in &10in hexagon sponge cake. I wanted to use Mrs Jones cake but I have never made a hexagon shape cake before, and am not sure of quantities to use .

It’s fine to follow recipes for round cakes when in baking in hexagon, petal or oval tins. Measure your pan at it’s widest point, whatever the measurement is, use the equivalent recipe for round cake. As with square cakes, hexagons have corners which cook faster than the center. Protect the cake by double lining the pan sides and bottom with parchement paper and wrap the outside with brown paper to help prevent burning. Hope this helps.
