stand up wine bottle
I am wanting to make a stand up wine bottle cake and I’m not sure how to do it. I have an idea that you can stack small circle cakes to the correct height of the bottle, then carve. Not sure how to carve the bottle neck and also, do I put dowels between the cake layers? My main worry is, as the bottle shape is tall and thin, how do I stop it falling over?

Take a peek at this tutorial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gl5R5ZYKCZg This uses fruit cake but you can use a dense sponge just as well. If you worried about the bottle not standing up use a simple and inexpensive internal support like sturdy cake stacker http://www.sturdycakestackers.com/
I would make the neck of the bottle with rice krispie treats. Hope this helps.
