Corned beef sandwhich cake

Hi I have to make this cake next week. There only seems to be a Subway sandwich cake online and I don’t think a ton of sugarpaste inbetween two cakes will taste very nice. Any other ideas will be most appreciated. Thanks

Hi gucci906

Are you going to cut out the shape of the sandwich from a square cake or use a sandwich mould? Once the shape is made just fill it with the chosen buttercream or ganache filling and only infill spaces with ‘corned beef’ sugarpaste or modelling chocolate. It doesn’t have to go all the way inside the ‘sandwich’. Will you also be making salady bits too? If you are, the use of a pasta machine will roll out the meat and salad fillings out really thin so it won’t be like eating masses of sugary filling. You could also use wafer paper and colour it to look like the filling. The wafer paper would need to be softened first by either massaging a little vegetable fat into it or using this product :

Take a peek at Paul’s burger cake tutorial to get more ideas for fillings and colour shading.
For cake ‘sandwich’ moulds peek here http://www.nuku.co.uk/cakewich-sandwich-cake-pan/

If you’ve seen the Subway sandwich youtube tutorial, use it as a guide on making the ‘corned beef’.
Hope some of the ideas help.
