I was just wondering what depth of cake our the portion calculations and price guides for?

Hello Antonia

The portion numbers are based on the surface area of the cake. The depth of portion is entirely down to choice/preference. However, if you had a double barrelled cake say 2x 3″ depth, they could be separated to give 2x 3″ depth cakes or 1x 6″ cake depth. 3″ depth is usually plenty, but it just comes down to choice.
