I would like to know if it’s possible mixing Rainbow Dust metallic gold into royal icing?

I’ve never tried doing that. I should imagine you’d need to add loads of gold dust to the icing sugar to achieve a decent shimmer. However, I think Evil Cake Genius make metallic royal icing mix. They are based in the USA but sell on Amazon and, at the Cake Craft Company in the UK.

The only way I have painted a metallic cake is by making a paint with the dust and dipping solution then painting it on with a brush or an airbrush. There are several tutorials in the Cakeflix tutorials which show the process. Paul paints a cake gold in the following tutorial:

Paul is painting on a fondant cake but the technique would be similar. And if you search in the tutorials for metallic cakes, you’ll see several other cakes. Fay Cahill has the shimmering wedding cake which is worth a peek.
