Welcome to the Cake Decorators Q&A
Roof tile impression mat
Tricky one! I’ve been asked to replicate a modern office building in cake and Ill be using sugarpaste. The building has standard red roof tiles. I can’t find an impression mat/embosser anywhere that I could use to make the tiles – does anyone have any recommendations or ideas of how I could do this?

Perfect! Thank you madeitwithlove – I’ve found Paul’s Santa Chimney tutorial and that will do the job very nicely 😀 Thanks for your excellent (as always!) advice.
Hi Leapyleo
My Google search only gives me brickwork or scales for roof tiles. I would be inclined to draw the tiles out on your fondant as an impression rather than a realistic depiction. Have a look at some roof tile pictures and practice drawing them on a spare piece of fondant.
Paul has done a chimney with similar markings to plain red roof tiles. This could also be a good guide. Have the fondant slightly thicker so the lines can be grooved out deeper. I’ll keep searching in case something pops up and hopefully, other members will chime in with other suggestions.
Take a peek at how to draw roof tiles here:

Use the quilting tool from your basic tool kit to draw out the lines. See the quilting tool here:
Hope some of the suggestions help:)
Well done to you! I’m so pleased that the tutorial helps. There’s always something in the tutorials for everyone 🙂
