Glaze or lustres are best. Vodka would just evaporate – well it does in my house 🙂

I used good old veg oil ,i use it all the time its cheap and works a treat.I used it for ps3 and designer shoes to make them look paton .

It;s the wine that evaporates in this house – just as well the bottled for the cake will be an empty fondant one !!

Jennifer:  That sounds nice & easy – but will it not be greasy ?  This is a wedding cake so I don’t want it to be greasy :-S

Thanks for all your answers – i found a great wee helping aid – clear piping gel, slightly watered down with a touch of water and some almond extract 0 worked a treat 😀
