Sorry I am very hard of hearing and couldn’t hear what Paul was using. However it looks like cake wires taped together. Try http://www.cake-stuff.com/flower-wires-tapes-buy-sugarcraft-wires-c-29_50.html or just google cake wires or florist wires. The lower the number the thicker the wire. This is then bound together to required thickness with stem-tex tape http://www.cake-stuff.com/flower-wires-tapes-buy-sugarcraft-tapes-c-29_51.html?zenid=47b46af22ad894c74371083805a4c5df. If you only have thinner wires tape a few together instead of buying thicker ones.
Paul uses 20 gauge wires for the handbag handles 🙂
sometimes I use candy sticks, used to be called sweet cigarettes when I was a child 🙂
I make the handles days ahead, with the candy sticks in place, then just stick them into the cake, and sometimes I secure with a little bit of royal icing.
