I use a variety of cutters. My favourite are the funky cutters, patchwork and the stainless steel ones which are sold in round tins ( can’t remember the make without looking). As time goes on, you’ll want different styles of lettering and like most of us end up with all different makes. I also enjoy making numbers and letters piped with royal icing, they’re a lot more time consuming, but a good skill to have in the absence of cutters.
I like the tappitt alphabets
I use Patchwork cutters
I use fmm tappit cutters, I have plain script and funky. I also love the groovy clickstix and ththe plain cookie cutters for larger alphabet.. Really depends on the design of the cake
Thank you everyone, i have purchased some patchwork cutters in upper and lower case to start with, tho i am tempted by the funky fmm tappit next.
I found patchwork cutters harder to use than tappits so don’t despair if all does not go well first efforts.
Just make sure you use either mexican or flower paste with the patchwork cutters, grease the board and cutter, roll paste out thin, making sure the paste sticks to the board, and remove the cutter from the paste, with a flicking action. I had problems when I first used these cutters, but once you get the hang of them, you’ll love all the patchwork cutters, they’re brilliant 🙂
Hi Sharon54, I do all you suggest. Perhaps I need more practice!
Hi Jayess, what are the problems you’re getting?
