Is it possible to make your own flower paste?

Hi Simi

If you put Squires flower paste in the search box, next to ask a question, you’ll see a recipe for flower paste in the answers, I’ve added 2 recipes, but I’d try the 2nd one, if I was you , it makes a good paste.

Hi Simi

You can use cmc but you will have to exchange the correct weight or measure.  The difference is brought about by different density of the gum powders.

Gum Tragacanth  10gm weighed   =          3 x 5ml teaspoons

Tylose (CMC)      10gm weighed  =          5 x 5ml teaspoons

Hope this helps.

You can use fondant and add gum tragacanth usually 1 teaspoon to 100 grams fondant.  I am making roses just now and have added 1 rounded teaspoon gum tragacanth to 200 grams fondant so it just depends on what the flower paste is being used for.
