Exploding Santa
Hello,
I have 2 questions about the Exploding Santa cake I’m wondering if someone can help with?
Firstly, with all the carving what would the approx portions (2″x1″) be?
Secondly, by the time I have finished applying the stripes I find that my sugarpaste has started to dry out and cracks when I’m peeling back for the explosion – any tips for how to avoid this?

Truly Scrumptious I believe is the company which Paul and David used to own but sold when they set up this site and cake school. As to the drying out of the fondant, I don’t have a solution, except perhaps some way of keeping the applied strips covered loosely with cling film so as not to damage the cake but,enough to keep the air from drying the fondant. I’m sure you will receive other more helpful comments.
