Bite Sized
Watch Paul create his 50 Shades of Grey cake in just one minute!
Highlights
Here we have selected some of the key moments in this tutorial that should be more than enough to get you started.
1. Bottom tier
To make the bottom tier, Paul cuts out circles from wafer paper and folds them in half. He then marks out guidelines on the cake before adding the wafer paper.
2. Middle tier
To decorate the middle tier, Paul does a bit of experimenting with grey, silver and white luster dusts to create an abstract paint effect.
3. Top tier
Paul uses mini white confetti to create a lovely texture on the top tier.
4. Making the flowers
In this lesson Paul shows you how to make simple wafer paper flowers using scissors to cut the shapes out and alcohol to add the colour.
5. Adding the flowers
After making the flowers it’s now time to arrange them on the cake. This can be a very subjective exercise, but Paul talks you through his thought process.
6. Making the leaves
Using wafer paper, Paul creates small leaves and attaches them to 30 gauge wire before painting them with a light pink.
7. Adding the leaves
To complete the cake, Paul uses his creative intuition to add the leaves to the cake in a complementary flowing style.
8. Other Ideas
Paul shares some other ideas you can use when making your own cake.
9. Pro Lesson
In this lesson, Paul tells you everything you need to know when it comes to pricing and selling a cake like this.
