1. The design
Paul first introduces the design and concept behind the display at Cake International. Now it’s time to start decorating so it’s out with a brand new mat then begins to prepare the cake lace.
2. Making the lace
Paul demonstrates how easy it is to use the cake lace by seamlessly preparing sheet after sheet. He then goes on to explain his thinking behind the design.
3. Painting the cake
Time to get the dusts out and Paul creates a lovely silver/ blue tone then using a large brush applies to the cake to get a metallic finish.
4. Adding the lace sheets
Paul now combines the lace with wafer paper sheets to create a wedding dress type material, which is then attached to the cake.
5. Adding the ruffles
Adding the lace/wafer paper ruffles to one side of the cake the truly stunning dress effect begins to come to life.
6. Decorating the other tiers
In this lesson Paul has a think about how he wants to decorate the other tiers. After much thought he decides to get busy with the dresden/ stitchy tool.
7. Making the flowers
Here Paul shows how to get great looking flowers with little effort. Excellent for those making cakes commercially.
8. Attaching the flowers
It’s time to attach them. Along the way Paul has a little fun as he demonstrates how to add some extra volume to the cake.
9. Making the stamens
Sometimes the tricky little bit, but you’re in safe hands as Paul shows hoe to create the stamens and bring it all together.
10. Finishing touches
Here Paul shows us a lovely way to add that extra bit of sparkle to the cake, which transforms the finish to something magical.
