3. Lettering

Following Paul’s advice you’ll have some great looking lettering in no time!

The best way to do this is to print out some nice letters and do a bit of experimenting with which font style looks best, alternatively, if you’re feeling brave you can produce the lettering purely from freehand.

4. Cute Ducks

Using the smaller ducks from the Karen Davies Rubber Duck Mould (you could try this by hand if you wish) Paul produces some great ducklings to decorate the base level of the cake then adds the fine details.

6. The Cow

The cow model is next, it’s very similar to the creation of the pig model so you should find this one nice and simple to create and it looks ‘udderly brilliant’ (sorry we can’t help it!) so much so you may wish to put the normal 4 udders on the cow rather than Paul’s version that has 6!

7. The Sheep

The sheep model is the last of the 3D models to create and looks great with the sugarpaste balls to add the fluffy yet cartoony sheep fur!

9. Adding The Animals

Paul starts off the lesson by showing the techniques used to make the decorative flowers and grass which really help to set the farmyard scene.

Following this, Paul shows you how to position and attach the animals we made earlier along with tips on how to add the centre cake. (You can also use a dummy cake for the centre piece)

12. Finishing Touches

Everything is now looking good and it’s time to transfer the top cake over, take care here and remember Paul’s using a dummy cake for this so take extra care and use the help of a palette knife for this stage.

A few finishing touches later and we have the completed cake, thanks for watching and we hope you enjoyed the course and new studio, follow to the next lesson for some other ideas with this cake.

13. Other Ideas

Paul covers some of the other ideas for this cake, changing the colour to suit different recipients works well and of course the animals can be changed to whatever you prefer – A Christmas version perhaps with Elves and Santa?

If you do make a cake based on this one feel free to share with us what you’ve created, we love to see your creations and often share them on our facebook page.

Learn to make this super Cute Farmyard Cake. The cake is ideal for a first or second birthday celebration with its unique design featuring 2 tiers and a sheep, cow and a pig really working hard to hold that top tier up! Topped off with a number 1 (or number of your choice) for the lucky birthday girl or boy.
