HMS’ Britannia & Spare cake tutorial by Paul Bradford
Paul created 5 cakes for the late Queen Elizabeth II as part of her holiday retreat at Balmoral. The cakes were informal private family cakes and each one had humour throughout.
Just after HMS Britannia was decommissioned, the cake for Balmoral was to the Queen and the royal family in a rowing boat navigating around the Scottish Hebrides. This showed the humour that they have away from the formality of royal duties.
With the Queen’s passing Paul has rec-created the cake, but brought it up to date with the current royals. Given the current family issues and the name Prince Harry gave to his book, there was a gentle nod to the humour that the family have shown throughout the years.
In this tutorial you will learn how to:
- How to make a large L shape stand for painting landscapes and cake
- Painting a natural landscape using edible dust
- Creating boat style cakes
- Modelling people and dogs with a fun twist
