Highlights
This is the place to be if you’re struggling for time and just want to see the key parts of the tutorial. This video contains more than enough to get you started.
1. Cutting and ganaching the cake
In this lesson, Paul goes over the design and shows us how to create a quick and simple template, which you can use to cut out a heart shape. Just a nice thin layer of ganache, and we are already halfway there!
2. Modelling the dog
Next up. Paul shows us how to create a cute little golden retriever and a love heart. It’s very simple and only a couple of PME modelling tools are needed. The results are instant – this is simple but effective modelling.
3. Modelling the Dog Pt 2
In this lesson, Paul shows us how to finish off the modelling by adding the essential puppy-dog-eyes, eyelids and so on. Next all we have to do is dust it and it’s complete!
4. Dusting the dog
Paul starts off by using a heart shaped cutter to decorate the board a little. He then uses dust on the dog to bring it to life. Paul uses an edible pen to write on the heart, but feels this is a little too light, so goes over it with some black edible paint.
5. Adding the Cigarellos
Paul uses his fancy handmade white chocolate cigarellos, which had been made for a previous project but you can use anything you like. Paul even suggests using Kit Kats or Flakes or basically anything that’s tasty and can stand upright! Get creative and have fun.
6. Finishing touches
Paul finishes off the cake by adding some cute edible doggy bones. Very quick and simple to make and just adds a bit of fun to the overall design. Perhaps you could add a little bowl, a dog’s collar or a toy. The ideas are endless so go on, have a try!
7. Other Ideas
