Highlights
Highlights of our Rangoli cupcake tutorial
1. Sketching and shading
First of all, Anjali sketches and explains her design in a little more detail. She then goes on to mix the various shades of orange that will help to make up the pattern.
2. Layering up the candy canes
Some would be surprised that you can create all those amazing shapes and colours using such a simple technique. However, Anjali explains all as she builds up the coloured layers in the candy canes.
3. Covering the canes
Once the canes have been layered up they then get their final covering in sugarpaste. Anjali chooses to cover them in black as it will show off the colours and patterns at their best.
4. Bringing the canes together
Anjali reduces the canes before bringing them all together to create a colourful mix. She then importantly reduces the collective cane. This is where the magic starts to happen and she slices through and the beautiful pattern unfolds.
5. Finishing touches
It’s now time to add the colourful centres before adding the decoration to the cupcake. Anjali has a neat little trick to ensure that the decorating sets into the shape of the cupcake and I’m sure that you’ll agree that the finish is just stunning.
6. Other ideas
Paul Bradford now shares with you some other ideas that can be made for this tutorial
