In this lesson, Paul shares some insider information about the cost to make this cake, as well as pricing, portions and other vital information for any professional cake designer.

Although we have a number of car cake tutorials on the site until now there hadn’t been anything for the mechanics who keep them on the road. So, here it is! A tutorial that tackles 2 major skills…making a 3D tyre and making a sitting sugar model. What more could you ask for?

This design is perfect for a birthday or perhaps something for your local garage or mechanic after a job well done. The techniques learned there are endless potential designs. A fun cake that will be sure to bring a smile to anyone’s face and have the guests asking…’how did they do that?’

Follow this tutorial to pick up some new skills and techniques, which include creating a stand to support a standing circular cake, working with ganache, creating a realistic tyre, modelling work, edible dust work and lot’s more. Perfect for an intermediate cake designer or for a beginner looking for a challenge.

We’d love to see your take on the Tyre ‘n’ Mechanic – so make sure you share your photos with us on our Facebook page.
