My love of sugar craft began when I trained as a teacher of Home Economics, more years ago than I care to remember. Over next 12 years, I made cakes for friends and family and then a local cake decorating supplier. As a founder member of The British Sugarcraft Guild in Edinburgh (with which I am still heavily involved), I learned many more new skills, especially flower making, which were utilised when I was a partner in The Cake and Chocolate Shop - producing celebration cakes and teaching classes in cake decoration. This lead to a lecturer’s post in Edinburgh College (where Paul was one of my first students). It is such a privilege to have been able to combine my two life-long passions, teaching and cake decoration throughout my life.
