10″ square Pandora cake

i need to make the above but not sure on the following:
1. What size bracelet would be adequate on a 10″ cake?
2. Need the lid made out of sponge cake – would this be viable for 10″?
3. I don’t have an edible printer therefore will need to write the logo by hand but don’t feel very comfortable any tips?

Thank you.

Hi Skye Cakes

I’m going to try and answer your question in order of asking so here goes:

1: Use a 10″ square tin to gauge the size of the bracelet with a round of spare sugarpaste. If the bracelet is having charms make sure the internal round allows room for them to spread out over the cake. Leave a good distance between the charms and the edge of the cake. Look at google images for Pandora bracelet cake to see how to place the bracelet.
2: If you make the lid with sponge it would have to be a very thin layer stuck down well onto a 10″ cake board. There are some tutorials online which may be helpful. Take a peek here:
https://uk.search.yahoo.com/search?fr=mcafee&type=C111GB0D20151104&p=how+to+make+a+square+open+gift+box+cake
The sides of the lid would have to be made with gumpaste. It would be easier to make it with a board.
Have a look at Paul’s Valentine chocolate box tutorial as a guide here: http://www.cakeflix.com/?s=valentine+chocolate+box&post_type=course
3: For the logo, trace the name onto card and cut it out to use as a template. If you cut the letters out in white they can be painted over with black or make them with black gumpaste. If you layer the gumpaste with bottom white paste and top black paste you’ll get a more stand out result with the two colours. Keep the paste quite thick so it looks bold. Round off any jagged lines on the cut outs by smoothing the letters with your finger.
If you google ‘how to make fondant letters 4 ways’ the search will take you to Anne Reardon of How to cook that. She has a great easy tutorial which can be used as a guide.

I expect other members will be able to give some more tips. Hope the above help a little.
