Welcome to the Cake Decorators Q&A
some ideas please for my mothers 105th birthday cake
Hi tstevenson5
It’s difficult to know what to suggest without knowing a little about your dear mum’s interests. How about something surrounding her life and hobbies? Vintage car cake? or something a little more simple like the birdcage cake http://www.cakeflix.com/online-cake-decorating-courses/bird-cage which would lend itself well to flowers and some Edwardian lace. There are many flowers in the tutorial library which may be suitable, see them here http://www.cakeflix.com/online-cake-decorating-courses/course-library-flowers and also here http://www.cakeflix.com/blog/page/6 here http://www.cakeflix.com/blog/how-to-make-a-primrose and here http://www.cakeflix.com/blog/how-to-make-sugar-lavender
Edit you may have the book Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady by Edith Holden, if you do, there will be lots of flowers and birds inspiration there.
I’m sure other members will make some some suggestions too. Happy 105th birthday wishes to your Mum!
If you’re having a party, then you could do number cakes, a different flavor cake, for each number, and you could hire the cake tins, from most sugarcraft shops, if you didn’t want to carve the numbers.
