Welcome to the Cake Decorators Q&A
3D Bunny Cake
I am just wondering whether i can make the bunny’s head made out of cake instead of using styrofoam or rice crispy? Is that too heavy to support the head or Do i need a support between the body and neck if it’s possible? And how many servings are this cake can feed people?
I really enjoy watching this video and i would like to follow any discussion about this cake with other fellows who are doing this project. My question is: “Is there a Q&A place for certain project, instead of using this spot which covers all kind of topics?” I guess i’m too lazy to scroll down all the titles to find what i am looking for Or we have it here n i just don’t know where to look? (*gasssppp) @_@
Best regards 😀
Hello roselorraine1
Paul used a 5″ dummy which he carved down for the head. I should think that ends up as a 4″ once carved…. would a 4″ cake be heavy?? I think it would once it’s been filled and piped over.
There are no separator boards used in any of the layers. The central pole is supporting the entire structure so I would think the head would just sit on as well. If I was doing this cake I’d want to stick the head down with ganache and support it with extra dowels all round. Other members may do differently and will hopefully add their opinion.
The portion guide chart is here http://www.cakeflix.com/blog/how-to-decide-on-the-cake-portions
However if you’re making the head from cake that would give you a little extra. The portions chart is only a guide providing the suggested portions are served. The yield would depend on the portion size you’d like to serve. The ingredients list for the cake is beneath the video tutorial.
Q & A is where most cake topics are discussed. The blog section covers other topics which you may find helpful. By using the search box above, most topics can be found fairly easily. Many members give feed back on their own results on different aspects of each project they have tackled. For this reason Q & A is a great point of reference for everything rather than individual projects. I can appreciate your thoughts for a topics section, perhaps suggest it by writing in to the site using this form:
