It uses the traditional shortcrust pastry base and kirchwasser without which it can not be called black forest cake/gateau. In the recipe ingredients you will see the number 550 beside the flour, don’t worry about it just use ordinary plain flour. In Germany flour is graded and given numbers, 550 is the same as all purpose in USA and plain in UK. Enjoy x
