burger cake for display

I want to make the burger and chips cake for display. Was thinking to use 2 x 6inch round cake dummies but not sure how to make the top part of the bun shaped like a bun? Also, if i made the burger from sugarpaste, is there anything i could put on it to replace the ganache as this is expensive and not sure if it will keep long without going off? Has anyone got any ideas?

Hello Tomandhen123

Ganache doesn’t have to be expensive if you use cheaper brand chocolate. Lidle supermarket have 100g chocolate for 39 pence and so do other supermarkets with their own brands. If you don’t want to use ganache you could just colour up some sugarpaste the same colour as the burger, give it a few highlights with petal dust to make it look more realistic. If you contact dummies direct they will shape the burger bun for you out of syrofoam so all you need to do is cover it and airbrush or colour as per the tutorial.
Here is some information about dummies and contact for dummies direct:

If you use Dummies direct let them know you are a Paul Bradford sugarcraft school member and you may be elgible for a little discount. They are really lovely people always ready to help.

Ask to speak with Keith or Richard, they are the father and son who carve all the dummies. Hope it all goes well. x

Hi
Could you not make to top part of the bun with Rice Krispie treats?
