Welcome to the Cake Decorators Q&A

I always use the craigmiller madeira mix, I love it cos  I always get the same perfect result, I dont get a lot of chocolate cake orders (Yet!!) so cant really justify ordering the chocolate cake mix, can I add cocoa to the madeira mix to make a chocolate cake?  Has anyone tried this?  I do make the rich chocolate cake suggested on here and love it (too much!!) but just wondered if it could  be done….

the ingredients are quite different in quantities.  Costomers might be disappointed in a chocolate madeira cake.  BUT I have never tried to do this maybe someone will have a better answer.

My typing is terrible (so is my proof reading).  The answer above seems to have lost the first part (what did I do?).  What I started to say was you can make a chocolate madeira cake so give it a go.  Experiment with a small 6″ cake.  I don’t think it will be a good substitute for a real chocolate cake.

I always use Lindy Smith’s recipes for madeira and chocolate cakes. How ever I would like to try the craigmiller mix that you use as it sounds really easy. Where can I buy this?

I love Lindys chocolate cake recipe I always make mfee from scratch. Paul made a tutorial as well about a chocolate cake Recipe which looks amazing

I buy the mix from, cakestuff, U’ll find it in the bulk supplies, I think lol,   I do bake from scratch but finding the more orders I get the less time I have and my customers also love it so everyone is happy!  Thanks so much for the suggestions, I’ll check them out 🙂
