Just wondered what other people think ?? Got a phone call today from someone enquiring about a cake,simple design to feed 10 children so I said from 20 pounds.Then comes the e/mail and picture of a fairly elaborate 2 tier cake and oh if it could feed about 20 people for the same 20 pounds and is delivery free ?????
Feeling rather dismayed !

I know exactly what you mean, it is so disheartening. I recently had a request for a plain iced cake and 24 cupcakes and no more than £15.00 in price and also a woman sent a picture of a 3 tier Kath Kidston style cake, the top and bottom tier were surrounded by roses and could I do that for £50.00? they are having a laugh lol.

I really want to say to them would they work for less than the minimum wage or in some cases for free.

I think they assume all cakes are a 3 egg Victoria sponge which mums make up on a sunday in half an hour and that’s it.

@ Liz Hemmingway and Mrs Boots , We’ve all experienced unrealistic pricing from customers. Was it Rhu Strand or someone else who coined the saying ‘Good cake ain’t cheap and cheap cake ain’t good’??

im new to cakes and was wondering if the cakes in the tutorials, if at the beginning you could say how much that particular cake would be sold for please, as i made the catch oh the day cake for a family member and had an enquiry about it but have no idea what to charge for it ?
