can i keep mixture over night before bking?

Hi maybe a daft question but have been looking at Pauls receipe for the moist choc cake and was wondering if i could in essence make up the batter and keep refridgerated over night and bake the next day? to be honest just runing short on time!! lol

Hi jimbojai, personally for me I wouldn’t. I make mixture and bake, but always worth a try though, always bake at last minute when its sponge. hope this helps.x

You can with some cake batters depending on the type of leavening being used. What I would suggest you do is search in google ‘ refrigerating cake batter’ where you’ll get a better idea of which types of batter you can make up and hold. Personally I wouldn’t do it because the leavening tends to fizzle out producing a dense heavy cake in some instances and flat as a pancake in others. If you do do it, please share with us the results.
