Chicken drumstick toppers
Hi. What would be best to paint on the fondant chicken drumstick to make it look like it’s cooked. It’s not the breadcrumb type, just a chicken drumstick in a frying pan. Thanks x

Hi maisy
Personally I like to use gel paints diluted with a little vodka to thin it out. You’d need to use layers of different browns , yellows and even a tiny bit of black. You can do the same if you have an airbrush. Keep a reference picture beside you or even a real drumstick (try not to eat it though 🙂 ….!) and just keep layering until you get the right look. If your drumstick is with skin, texture the fondant with kitchen towel which has little dimples in it. To finish off, glaze it with either confectioner’s glaze or PME clear glaze spray. Best tutorials to follow in youtube are the roast turkey dinner cakes which show the painting and texturing techniques. These can just as easily be transfered for making toppers. Hope some of the suggestions help. 🙂
Lovely, thank you. X
