Welcome to the Cake Decorators Q&A
Choco chips sinking in cupcakes
Hi all, I have just made a batch of fudge cupcakes and Choco chip cupcakes.
On both batches the fudge and Choco chips have sunk to the bottom of the cakes.
Does any1 know why it does this or what Iight be doing wrong.
The Choco chip still taste lovely but the fudge has melted together at the bottom and melted together and gone hard.
Any help welcome 🙂

Hi kellie-dowling
Is it possible that your choco chips and fudge pieces are a little on the big side? If they, are chop them up a bit smaller and dust them with some flour like we would for fruit cake. That should stop them from sinking. A couple of other things which might work is to spoon some plain batter at the bottom of the case and add the chips and fudge to the rest. Fold don’t mix, they only sink because the batter is lighter than the additions. Keep some back and throw it over the top and by the time the batter rises the chips and fudge pieces will be more evenly distributed. Hope it works for you. x
