Hi Clark,

You can use a fresh flower posy but you must make sure it doesn’t come into contact with the cake – some flowers are poisonous and most will have been sprayed with pesticide or fertiliser at some point.  Always check with the florist.

You should try to put something between the flowers and the cake – maybe a thin cake card – or use a posy pick if you are inserting into the cake.

You might find it handy to have a few spare flowers somewhere cool, the heat in the venue might make your flowers wilt and it would be a shame if your cakes didn’t look their best!

Hope that helps 🙂

I’d also wrap the ends of the flowers with florist tape to prevent cross contamination
