course suggestion
Hi Paul,
Just want to thank you for the great tutorials, you’re a great teacher. I absolutely love your site.
Can you please teach us how to make a carousel cake in the near future?
Many thanks,
Apolline

We have scheduled the carousel for filming early April – Paul says he needs all that time to buy in all the goodies (including rotating turntable) as he wants to make it a WOW factor design.
Thumbs up to people power 🙂
Kind regards
David
Hi Doodlecake
I haven’t tried it yet and I can’t see why it shouldn’t rise, it’s just equal quantities and one bowl mix. Did you realise the eggs were large? It’s possible the muscovado sugar prevents it from rising as much, although I don’t get problems with it in any other recipe. Did you notice that she has a toffee cake recipe on page 187? Haven’t tried that either, seems everyone I bake for wants either chocolate or madeira! Made carrot cake for my son’s 38th birthday last week, it was such a treat to make something other than choc. I’ll give the butterscotch recipe a go and feed back to you. x
Yes I would like that course too. I bought a revolving cake stand six months ago and it’s gathering dust!
Me too
Hi Apolline, Doodlecake and Sharon54
I’m making the carousel cake from Fiona Cairns’ The birthday cake book. It’s a very simple colouful design, which will do me for now as I have a pressing engagement with a little year old girl. It isn’t a revolving cake but I’ll sit it on my lazy Suzy for effect. I would love to see a Paul Bradford carousel wedding cake design.
Out of interest MIWL have you ever tried to make her butterscotch cake from that book as I’ve tried it three times and it doesn’t rise and by the time it cools its like a biscuit! I can’t see why the recipe shouldn’t work and its a shame because it does taste good!
Thank you for the information madeitwithlove, I’m going to have a look at that book.
I like the idea of a wedding carousel cake,
You’re welcome Apolline. I don’t know whether you have any cut price book shops near where you are, I bought mine in The Works for £6.99. Amazon has it for various prices, cheapest about £10 00
WOW, as if we weren’t already spoiled for choice, thank you Paul and thank you David. xx ps what about my rotating Planets cake?? Now that would be WOW too, but only if Paul makes it!!
No need to go to that expense David. I’d be more than happy to bring you my revolving turntable, hang around for the day…!
Thank you SOOOO much Paul and David, you guys are awesome. Love your accents too – very cute!
Also thanks again madeitwith love for the information about the birthday book.. I’ve ordered it through Amazon. The carousel cake in that book is a simplified version and it’s nice to know how to make both of them, but can’t wait for Paul’s WOW factor carousel cake.
