Cutters

Can anyone recommend good number and letter cutters. I have the Fmm ones but it always takes me so long not sure if I am doing it right.

Thanks

Hi kbrown

There’s a really good tutorial on youtube by Laurapoopie called ‘how to make cake fonts the Krazy Kool way’.
The demonstrator is using the fmm funky letters and numbers set but the process for tappitts is more or less the same as she is showing. I also use fmm along with some basic ones which I bought years ago + the stainless steel individual cutters which come as sets in the round tins. I used have a lot of trouble too but find if I dip the tappitts into icing sugar the cuts are much better. Hope you find the tutorial and it helps. x

Hi

Thanks for your advice I tried this and it works very well.

A couple of my letters get stuck slightly at the end. Do you recommend any other tips to avoid this?

Thanks
Kerry

Hi kbrown

I just dust them with icing sugar if it keeps sticking. Helps also that your paste is thin and not sticky. Try and dust the paste as well. I used to get so infuriated with them but just kept trying. If the letter/number won’t release at the ends use a pin or the scriber tool to gently tease it out. Did you have a look at the Laurapoopie dem on youtube?
Have a peek if you didn’t get around to watching, it’s good. x

Thanks for this.

Yes had a look at the video and it has really help I was much quicker and the fonts were smoother.

I did use fondant with tylose powder maybe that is what is causing it also.
