Welcome to the Cake Decorators Q&A
Difference of Sugar Paste and fondant
Good Morning,
I am not sure if this has been asked..possibly multiple times. I am brand new to decorating but have been baking from scratch for years…Time to kick it up.
I am in Canada and to date have only used Buttercream, both American and Swiss Meringue. I have dabbled with Fondant but not a fan of the taste.
What exactly is Sugar Paste and Flour Paste? I know it would not be the same as fondant.
Thank you in advance from the newbie

Hello Ann Marie
Welcome!
There’s answer on sugarpaste from me here:
Flowerpaste is also made of sugar but it is strengthend with edible gums eg gum tragacanth, tylose, CMC. It is used for making delicate sugar flower, sometimes also refered to as petal paste. Gumpaste is a less refined version of flower paste/gumpaste and is used for making models and flowers.
