Display Cake

Hi all, I am going to do a display chocolate wrap cake, will be using poly dummy’s instead of cake. Is ganache still ok to cover or should I use something non food related? Also would the dummies carve ok?
Many thanks
Ryan

Hi ryan

Ganache is fine to use on dummy cakes, Paul does it all the time and they look great. As for carving/cutting have a look at the last two answers here http://www.cakeflix.com/questions/cutting-a-dummy-cake.

Hi, Just to let you know that I asked the question about cutting a dummy cake. I did make my own with Rice Krispies and was a great success.
If you decide just to make a cone and are trying to mould into shape with your hands its very sticky, but if you cover your hand in some marg/butter it does not stick as much.
All the best with your wrap cake.
