Welcome to the Cake Decorators Q&A
displaying cakes in shop windows
I have made some dummy cakes that have been covered in fondant icing but find thst they discolour really quickly even when not in direct sunlight. Is there a product that I could use instead of fondant or maybe something that I could add to the fondant in order to prevent this from happening? Thanks.

Hi janie-1
There’s some information here http://www.cakeflix.com/questions/fading-cake-dummies
You could also try sticking some ultra violet filtre film on your windows to help cut out some of the Sun’s activities which cause discolouration. I’m not so sure that I would spray with hair spray as one suggestion in the above link but perhaps something like PME glaze might work??
