Hi Alicain
If you search in youtube ‘how to transfer an image to cake’ you’ll see many other methods other than pin prick. I find the easiest method is to download a reverse image, go around it heavily with pencil. Flip the image over onto the icing and rub the outline over with the pencil. The outline of the impression will transfer onto the icing and be easily visible to ice or paint around. The pencil marks are graphite and non toxic. If your image is intended to cover several cake tiers, it would be best to do the tracing in sections. Hope this helps. Please let me know if you need more information.
THANKYOU SO MUCH I WILL TRY THAT JUST UNSURE RE PENCIL IF IT WAS OK TO USE IT
Hope all goes well Alicain. The pencil is fine, we wouldn’t let children use them if they were not. If you are very worried about it, once you have your impression, go over it gently with a cell stick and wash the pencil mark off with a paint brush dipped in a little vodka or IPA. Paint brush should be moist and not dripping wet.
