Edible rice paper

Hi all is it possible to cover a polystyrene cake dummy with edible rice paper without having to cover in sugarpaste first?

It depends which sort of coverage you want to do. If it’s for the feathers as in the angel cake tutorial it might work.
Since you posted I’ve experimented with sticking the rice paper on to the dummy using piping gel. Some of the triangles have held others have started peeling away. You could try with edible glue or royal icing to see whether that works better. The paper is very flimsy so covering a whole dummy would be tricky because you’ll still be able to see the dummy, + too much moisture will destroy the wafer. Using fondant gives a better finish and helps adhesion.
