On the exploding cake you put the wires directly into the cake…is this allowed? I have a ballon type one to do and people have said you can’t put wired directly in, i thought about dipping the wire in chocolate, but again in theory this could break off….thoughts please!

You can use posy pick or you can fill drinking straws with royal icing / sugarpaste and let them set and then use them to hold wires

To avoid the risk of metal contamination wires are not allowed to be placed directly into food stuffs. Paul shows how to do it another way here http://www.cakeflix.com/online-cake-decorating-courses/box-explosion-cake
You can also use posy picks, however if you have lots of balloons it might be better to use the method in the box explosion cake tutorial.
