Filling cupcakes

Hi
Am going to make mrs Jones vanilla cupcakes for the kids (and adults) for Xmas

They will have a layer of fondant on top and decorated.

Would love to know if people prefer to fill their cupcakes or leave them plain. If filling what preferences do you have. X

I like to add a little something, may be cream cheese, lemon curd (or any flavour curd) a bit of choccy, or use one of those cupcake centre cutters and fill with something yummy, pop the cut out piece back and then cover with either fondant or melted flavoured chocolate. Aldi do lots of flavoured chocolates in the same style as the caramac bars but these have things like orange, strawberry, raspberry, mint, toffee, you name they’ve got it! Ooooo I just love Crimbo! Oh yes and popping candy too!

Was going to do the smowman, Xmas pudding and Father Xmas that Pauls done on here. Just had a look at Mrs Jones recipe and noticed that her cupcakes are flat and Paul uses domed ones for these designs.

Not really made cupcakes before so a bit unsure as to whether to use Mrs Jones recipe or find another one.

Why don’t you make a trial batch. I find if I want domed cupcakes I turn the temperature up a little and reduce the timing. I know my oven very well so just keep an eye on the little cakes. If a recipe says bake for 30 mins I do mine for 20 and quickly feel to see if they spring back, if not I bake on for a few more minutes.I use the middle shelf. Go on have a go, I’m no good at cupcakes but I’m getting the hang of them and it seems practice does make perfect , I’m not having as many disasters with them. x

Going to make a trial batch of Mrs Jones cupcakes tonight.

I only really want to make about 6 amd Mrs Jones recipe is for 24.

Is it ok to just use a quarter of the ingredients for cupcakes or is there some magic formula for them.
Im ok scaling normal cakes but unsure about cupcakes
